An alumni of IHM, Ahmedabad, Bakshish kick-started his journey as an assistant chef at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai, over 24 years ago, where he managed the operations independently, as confirmed by celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson of Ménage à Trois fame. In1994, Bakshish joined The Orient Express at the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi and became the Executive Chef at The Park, New Delhi in March 2002. He joined Litebite foods, a large diversified restaurant operating group, as a Corporate Chef.
Bakshish has been conferred with "Chef of the Year" award by the Indian culinary Forum & PhD Chamber of Commerce and has been given the title of "Molecular Magician" in the January 2008 edition of Spice Route. He was chosen for a Scholarship organised by "Southern United States Trade Association" at the chef John Folse Culinary Institute in Thibodaux (near New Orleans) in 2009. Bakshish was rated as the "Top 5 Chefs in the Country" in Business Standard in July 2009 and just recently has been rated as one of the "Top 10 Chefs of the Country", in the May issue of Food and Night Life.
Bakshish has a lot of interest in wild life, styling food, photography, clay, margarine or salt dough sculptures, carpentry and sports.
Vishal holds 12 years of experience in the Food and Service industry. His career includes of past ventures such as Suede bar & grill and East 101 Oriental Bistro.
He is currently the Director for Johnny Rockets India, which is an international restaurant chain that offers all-American food and fun. His aim here will be to institute Johnny Rockets as the leading global restaurant chain providing a classic all-American experience.
In addition to the above, Vishal also operates a leisure development company with the first project, Infiniti Bay, Goa, having become a landmark. His other interests include film and television production and real estate development.
6 years of investment banking experience in New York- involved in M&A, equity and debt raising for various clients including in the consumer food industry.
5 years of private equity experience in India with one of the world's largest US based private equity fund- directly involved in investing ~$1 billion in India.
